The much-awaited UPDF salary increment of 2022 has finally been announced, and it is sure to leave many military personnel and their families feeling relieved and satisfied.

The UPDF, Uganda People’s Defence Force, is the military force responsible for the defense of Uganda. As the country’s main defense force, UPDF personnel are relied upon to protect the nation’s sovereignty and defend its people.

In line with this, the government of Uganda has announced a salary increment for its UPDF personnel, effective from the start of the 2022 fiscal year. The salary increment amounts to a 10% increase in salaries for all ranks. This means that the salaries of Private rank personnel will be increased from about UGX 615,000 to UGX 676,500, while the salaries of General rank personnel will be increased from UGX 8.3 million to UGX 9.13 million.
